Department of Expenditure issued modified instructions on the subject of Booking of Air Tickets on Government account.

 The Dept. of Expenditure vide its OM dated 31/12/2021 have issued instructions that in all case of air Travel where the Government of India bears the cost of air passage, air tickets shall be purchased from the three authorised Travel Agents and that the Travel Agent should provide the Government employees the best available fare on the date of booking on any airlines, since Air India itself is privatized. The power for sanctioning air ticket purchased from unauthorized agents is now vested with the Head of the Department, not below the rank of Joint Secretary in subordinate/attached offices.
